Georgetown: President Donald Ramotar announced today (December 6) that he will be calling elections very early in the New Year.
He made this disclosure while speaking at a press conference held at State House. President Ramotar noted that he did not want to dampen the Christmas spirit by announcing a date; as such he will be in contact with the Guyana Elections Commission.
The President said there was no guarantee that putting an end to the prorogation and returning to the 10th Parliament would allow for any meaningful dialogue which resulted in calls for an early elections.
The President who heads a minority government disclosed that he is confident if winning at the next polls and would also regain the majority control of parliament.
