President calls for greater service outside of church – after receiving award from Seventh-day Adventists

Georgetown : President Bharrat Jagdeo was today conferred with an award by Seventh-Day Adventists of Guyana for his years of services as Head of State and his many accomplishments on the local and international scene during his tenure.
The occasion was the opening ceremony of the Third Quadrennial Session of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists held at the CentralSeventh-day Adventist Church on Church Street.
“We need not just to pray in beautiful edifices but to go to the communities where the people are because if you preach to the converted every week, we’re not going to transform Guyana. We need to go to the ones who need our message most,” President Jagdeo said.

Delegates from the Seventh-day Adventist faiths in Guyana, the Caribbean and North America were also present at today’s conference and award ceremony.
It was at the same venue that the late President Dr. Cheddi Jagan delivered an address to delegates at the 1997 Quadrennial Session of the Guyana Conference of Seventh-day Adventists.
