Berbice : Post-mortem examinations were performed on the bodies of Bhanmattie Devi Bacchus, 28 years, and Narendra Thakoor, 44 years, of Angoy’s Avenue, New Amsterdam; and Jasmattie Pooran, 70 years, of Guava Bush, Albion, Corentyne, by Government Pathologist Dr. Vivekanand Brijmohan.
The cause of death of Bhanmattie Devi Bacchus was given as haemorrhage and shock due to incised wounds, while that of Narendra Thakoor was ingestion of a poisonous substance. Bhanmattie Devi Bacchus was attacked and chopped about her body with a cutlass by Narendra Thakoor on January 16, 2013, after which he drank the poison.
The cause of death of Jasmattie Pooran was given as suffocation. Jasmattie Pooran’s body was found in her home with her hands tied and mouth gagged on Saturday January 19, 2013.
