Poll predict victory for opposition in general elections

A poll conducted by the Barbados based Caribbean Development Research Services Inc (CADRES), predicts that the oppostion New National Party (NNP) led by former Prime Minister Dr Keith Mitchell, will win the general elections on February 19.

According to the results of the poll more Grenadians are in favour of Mitchell leading a government than the incumbent Prime Minister Tillman Thomas of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The poll conducted between January 18 to 21st, after Thomas announced the date for the general elections, shows that 57 percent of Grenadians would prefer Mitchell to be their leader, while 33 percent indicated that Thomas was their choice for Prime Minister.
