Police Quash Rumor; Nevis Teen Still Missing

St Kitts & Nevis : Police have dispelled the rumor that the body of missing teen Dylon Clarke had been discovered in Bath’s, Nevis.

On Tuesday, word spread throughout Nevis that the mutilated body of the 17-year-old fifth form student had been discovered by a search team.

Police confirmed that no such discovery had been made, and search and rescue teams were still out in the field. Assurance was given that the search would continue today.

“We are treating this as a missing person report. The Joint Security Forces under the leadership of ACP Robert Liburd are spearheading this search and rescue effort. The search resumes tomorrow. Our thoughts are with the family this evening in hoping for a safe repatriation,” Commissioner of Police CG Walwyn told The Observer Tuesday evening.

The 17-year-old Church Ground resident reportedly left home Saturday afternoon (April 28) at about 3:30, headed for a bar in the village. His mother Yvette Clarke told The Observer he had been wearing a yellow Polo shirt, a pair of knee-length jean pants and a pair of Nike sandals. She said she had been informed that he was seen at the Bar that Saturday afternoon and had left around 6pm.

The search will continue today in the Long Point area. Persons reported seeing search teams in the Prospect and Church Ground areas on Tuesday.
