Police Complaints Authority wants documents from National Security Minister to investigate Police Commissioner

Port-of-Spain: The Police Complaints Authority has written to National Security Minister John Sandy requesting that he submit all official documents, policies and regulations which treat with or guide the procurement exercise of the Commissioner of Police in light of the police's employment of a light aircraft in crime-fighting.

The Authority has also requested from the Police Service Commission a copy of the report on the matter which is to be submitted by the Commissioner of Police at their request.

The Authority has made this clear in a letter send to Opposition Leader Dr Keith Rowley on Monday in response to the Opposition's request to investigate the procurement of air services of the police service.

Dr Rowley says the Opposition is heartened by the response because they felt the Minister was taking a hands-off approach on the matter.
