Dream Hole Mining Inc. which initially sought coloured diamonds but having found alluvial gold deposits within its 800- acre claim, took on both gold and diamond recovery.
The company recently commenced construction on a 35- mile gravel road which will lead to the top of the Kurupung Mountain and even beyond, at a cost of over US $1M. The company is also constructing bridges and culverts along the road’s route. A large portion of the project is already completed.
Prime Minister Samuel Hinds today at the commissioning of the road said, “one of the things I think about since I’ve been in Government is that we should look and take opportunities to put old resources into use.”
Prime Minister Hinds expressed satisfaction with the task undertaken by Dream Hole Mining Inc. which takes Guyana one step closer in its developmental strides, particularly those entrenched in the Low Carbon Development Strategy (LCDS). He added that with ETK, ( a Guyanese subsidiary of Sandsprings, a Canadian Company) leading the way with the restoration of the Puruni road, this has given a boost to timber and forestry activities along that section hence there is a need for strong partnerships in forest based activities.
President, Dream Hole Mining Inc., Lloyd Johnson explained that the road is being built since the area was not previously explored, except by local pork-knockers, because it was almost impassable to access except by foot. He pointed out that significant investments have been made into the company and it is hoped that production will be good. The company has completed its feasibility studies and has commenced production.
