Georgetown : Prime Minister Samuel Hinds who is performing the duties of the President, last evening expressed gratitude to the outgoing Chinese Medical team, and welcomed the 10th team.
He added that Government and the people of Guyana are sincerely appreciative of the service and dedication the members of the 9th team displayed in the execution of their activities.
Speaking at a reception at the Chinese Embassy he said, “The 9th Medical team did well in providing technical assistance to their local counterparts…during their tour, Guyana has benefitted from modern medical equipment which has enabled them to provide quality medical service to critical areas.”
Chinese Ambassador Yu Wenzhe, Director General of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Elisabeth Harper and Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsaran all paid tribute to the outgoing doctors and welcomed the new team.
The 9th Chinese team, headed by Dr. Zhao Wenxing comprises 15 specialist doctors, who spent time at varying medical institutions in Guyana, providing their local counterparts with technical assistance in critical areas. The 10th batch comprises a plastic surgeon, gynaecologist, cardiologist, general surgeon and a radiologist.
Chinese Ambassador Mr Yu Wenzhe congratulated the 9th team for successfully completing their two-year tour of duty.
