One shot after police and motorcycle bandits shoot out

Georgetown : Last night, ranks of a mobile police patrol observed two men on a motor cycle carrying the number plate CG 1755 trailing a motor car along Thomas Street, Georgetown.

 The police challenged the two men and the driver opened fire with a small arm on the police who returned fire, hitting the pillion rider who has been identified as Shane Hinds, 27 years, of Middle Road, La Penitence, Georgetown. As a result the motor cycle fell but the driver managed to escape.

 Shane Hinds has been admitted a patient under guard at the Georgetown Hospital.

 An unlicensed Rossi .38 Revolver with four matching rounds was found on Hinds, while a Walther .32 pistol with five rounds and a spent shell were recovered at the scene by the police.
