No police investigation for Jack Warner

Port-of-Spain: Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs says the police are not at this time investigating any allegations of bribery by Works and Transport Minister and suspended FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner.

The commissioner says there is no information before them to proceed on any investigation.

Warner is currently being investigated by a former director of the FBI under FIFA's guidance for allegations that he participated in a bid to bribe members of the Caribbean Football Union to vote for Mohammed Bin Hammam in last week's FIFA presidential election.

Commissioner Gibbs says that while the police have been proactive on the basis of media reports in the past there must be more specific allegations for them to investigate and he adds that at this time there is not sufficient evidence to begin an investigation.
