No false in manifesto says Arthur

Bridgetown.

The manifesto of the Barbados Labour Party (BLP) contains pledges that will put Barbados back on a growth path and will address several issues affecting Barbadians.

This assurance was given by Opposition Leader Owen Arthur during a 79 minute speech before a massive crowd at the launch of his party's manifesto.

Holding aloft the 84 page document, Arthur said the belief that nothing can be done due the international recession was a passive train of thought that would not be subscribed to by the BLP.

He said the manifesto did not contain any false promises, it had been prepared through extensive and intensive consulations across the country.

A forensic aduit into the affairs of CLICO, the construction of flyovers and a new expressway are  among the promises in the manifesto.

"It is not the party's manifesto but the people's manifesto. We do not lack the resources to put thhis country back together", Arthur said.

He added that the banks were flush with liquidity and therefore must be pressed into service to help build the economy.

Arthur  created a frenzy when he took to the stage at 11 p.m was hugged by the other candidates before making his speech. He called the Democratic Labour Party a wounded party and said there were not in a position to tell Barbadians what they would do for them.
