Mom, daughter sentenced to three years each for Marijuana

HerbsGeorgetown:  A mother and her teenage daughter were sentenced to three years in jail for trafficking in narcotics today.

Reports disclose that the daughter, Nadia, 18, and mother Bibi Abdul, 40 of 41 Dowding Street, Kitty, were arrested on February 22, 2012, after they tried to sell an undercover cop, Lance Corporal Eddoo, 4 grams of cannabis.

One the said date ranks conducted a search at Bibi Abdul’s home and found 210 grams of cannabis buried in the front of her yard. The mother who was subsequently charged for possession of narcotics was given another sentence of 3 years imprisonment which will run concurrently. They were also each fined $10,000.

The matter was presided over by Magistrate Sueanna Lovell at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.
