Biometric technology to enhance Guyana’s security systems-Tech Giant

GiantGeorgetown: STARR Computer has added an exciting new line of technology to their ever growing security solutions department.

At the company’s head office at 59 Brickdam, Stabroek today President of STARR computers Inc., Michael Mohan, unveiled the Biometric technology which is set to revolutionize the way security technology is addressed.

Representatives from a leading international firm, BioTrack were present to underscore the benefits of the technology. Product Manager of Bio Track Security Solution, Julio Ferreira underscored that use of the professional line of security cameras, time attendant systems, access control systems, facial recognition cameras and a very state of the art mouse.

Present also was General Manager (STARR Computer Inc), Rehman Majeed, staff of the company in addition to Chief Manager of Bio Track Technical Support Palo Hernendez.

With over two decades of providing surveillance equipment, safes, counterfeit detectors, guard control systems etc. STARR has partnered with a leading international firm, BioTrack, to bring to Guyana a more sophisticated form of security technology. Using unique identifying parts of the human body, fingerprints and facial recognition, businesses can enhance both security and productivity.

According to President of STARR computers Inc, a special biometric mouse allows a person to use one password to log into their computer, bank accounts, Skype, Facebook, Yahoo etc.

“ No need to be typing passwords anymore. Just scan your finger on the mouse and you have access. What is unique is that the mouse also encrypts your files making it safe from prying eyes.” He noted.

He further explained that the time attendant systems allows businesses to improve productivity of their employees by accurately scanning the employee’s face or finger print when they report to work or move within departments.

Adding that this allows special software to log the time of employee activities and can be integrated to payrolls, Mohan said it is ideal for businesses such as retail stores, construction sites, hospitals, Government organizations amogst other business facilities to maximize security and productivity.

He noted that access control system uses biometrics to allow persons access to different areas by opening doors upon authentication. Unlike traditional cameras the Bio cameras can turn on lights, activate an alarm and open doors by just scanning a person's face.
