Minister calls in Petrotrin management, union to avert strike

Pointe-a-Pierre: Labour Minister Errol Mcled is moving to avert a strike at state-oil company Petrotrin following the breakdown of talks between the company and the Oilfields Workers Trade Union last Friday.

Minister Mcleod has called both Petrotrin officials and the union to a meeting tomorrow.

He says its in an attempt to get the parties back to the negotiating table in order to avert a strike at the production and refining operations of the state oil company.

Minister Mcleod says he believes it would be premature for the parties to have abandoned the pursuit of a peaceful resolution to the industrial relations dispute, after having only two meetngs last Wednesday and again on Friday, at which attempts were made to resolve their issues amicably.
