Minister Allicock to attend Indigenous peoples conference in Canada

Georgetown : Minister of Indigenous Peoples’ Affairs and Vice President, Sydney Allicock will be representing Guyana at the Elders and Traditional Peoples Gathering at Trent University in Canada from February 26 to 28.

This conference will be held under the theme ‘Rekindling The Fire: Reconciliation And The Way Forward’.

 Minister of National Resources, Raphael Trotman announced that the Vice President will be delivering a key note address at the conference. His speech will focus on Government’s work in support of the development of Indigenous communities.

The forum was formed in the 1970s as an annual event to bring together Indigenous elders from across the world, to share their cultures and traditions, through a series of workshops, presentations and gatherings.
