Men’s Affairs Bureau hosts “Like Father, Like Son”

Georgetown: The Men’s Affairs Bureau of the Labour, Human Services and Social Security Ministry will be hosting a programme on Saturday entitled,  “Like Father, Like Son” in observance of Father’s Day 2014.

The event, slated to commence at 09:00h and conclude at 14:00h will be held at the Auditorium of St Stanislaus College, Brickdam, Georgetown.

Administrator of the Men’s Affairs Bureau, Mr Diego Alphonso, is encouraging fathers and their sons (not confined to biological sons) to register with the Bureau for this activity. “Like Father, Like Son” caters for fathers and their sons from age five, upwards. This interactive programme will feature dramatic presentations and discussions, as well as indoor and outdoor activities that promote bonding between fathers and their sons.

According to a release by the Ministry, facilitators for the event include Dr Kwame Gilbert, Chairman, National Commission for the Family; Mr Patrick Findlay, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Human Services Ministry and former Administrator of the Men’s Affairs Bureau; and Mr Timothy King of Man Tent (Guyana) and host of X1 Interface – a weekly television programme aired on the National Communications Network.

Alphonso is encouraging fathers and their sons to come out and be a part of the event, as it is empowering and a great opportunity to strengthen relationships between fathers and their sons.  The event is free, however, persons are asked to pre-register with the Men’s Affairs Bureau on telephone number 226-1922 to secure their participation, as space is limited.
