Master of Law Programme being offered at Nations University

scale-of-justiceGeorgetown: Nations University will be collaborating with the University of London to offer Guyanese the opportunity to study a more highly recognised law programme.

The University of London’s International Programme is an international in character with more than 52,000 students in more than 190 countries. Interested persons can visit Nations University at 41-42 New Market Street, the building just after GPL or contact them on numbers 225-4211 or 226-5681.

The Law Department of the University will be offering courses in a wide range of fields that will help prospective and current lawyers and even non-lawyers to have a better understanding of legal concepts.

This is according to Director of the Master of Law (LLM) Programme, Dr James Bustill, who is visiting from the University of London. He noted that he was excited to be in Guyana and to edify persons on the programmes that his university is offering.

He explained that the Master of Law Programme is one that is very flexible “it works with you”, the director noted. He continued that there are a wide variety of courses one can take while studying this programme.

Under the LLM programme, there are 57 different courses. Persons can study Business Law, International Law, and Human Resources Law, among other courses. In respect to Nations University with whom the University of London has worked for the past 19 years, students who sign up for any of the courses will be studying by distance learning and will receive a reading manual. They can also follow along online.

The courses are each five years long, with two exams a year which can be taken at students’ convenience at the British Consul in Georgetown.

Also speaking with Guyana Times was Ashme Singh, who heads the Law Department at Nations University. She highlighted that she herself is a student of the law programme and she endorses it.

She stated that there are flexible payment plans for interested students.
