David Blackman of no fix place of abode was shot this morning at the Super Centre Supermarket, Warren, St Michael.
According to reports, Blackman attacked store's chief of security with a knife after he was caught stealing hams.
He ran and was found in the nearby village of Eden Lodge and was taken to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital the police are investigating.
