Georgetown: The police did not realize that they got a bonus bust when they made a surprise raid at the Corentyne back track route. The drug bust led to the capture of four men including a wanted man who eluded police since October last year. Rickford Le Fluer, who goes by various aliases including Rastaman and Bragga was caught with narcotics in his possession. It is believed that since October he has been moving around partly disguised going to and from Suriname via the back track route.
Le Fluer is wanted in connection with the murder of Cleveland Hetmeyer who was shot to death reportedly during a confrontation with the suspect and another man at an area called Silverballi Gutter, some 90 miles up the Canje River. The victim’s body with bullet wounds to the leg and ribcage was recovered in a boat floating in the Canje River.
