“Mad man” lashes student to head, disappears after assault

Georgetown: A man of unsound mind lashed a Brickdam Secondary School twice to his head as he and his brother was walking to school Wednesday morning.

The lad who was identified as 15-year-old Kenneth David was taken to the Georgetown Public Hospital Corporation (GPHC) where he was treated and sent away.

The man of unsound mind was nowhere to be found after the incident.

Recounting the ordeal the lad said while strolling to school in the vicinity of Parliament Building, the “mad  man” suddenly attacked him, he then ran, but was lashed in his head and on his hand which he use to shield the blow. “I eventually ran away.”

Fellow student also visited the hospital to enquire the state of the lad who they discovered was not severely injured.

His mother, Abigail Edwards who was presented at the GPHC lamented that she hoped the authorities would take note and rid the street of such dangerous persons of unsound mind.

The traumatized lad, who resides at Stanleytown, West Bank Demerara, now plans to use another route or if necessary catch a bus to get to school.
