Bandits rob Brazilian Miner $10M in gold

Georgetown: Four masked men armed with a shotgun and cutlasses robbed a Brazilian miner operating in Aremu, Cuyuni/Mazaruni Mining District Region Seven.

Reports disclose the bandits confronted the illegal Brazilian miner in the company of two others, he was then assaulted and robbed 30 ounces of gold approximately GUY$10 million. They were left tied up on the Aremu Road but were eventually rescued person traversing the area.  Police are investigating.

As gold prices escalate the gold mining sector has seen a series of robberies on miners. Stakeholder had made calls on the Guyana Police Force to increase their presence in the mining districts.
