Luxury resort on Essequibo River to open next month

resortGeorgetown: The multimillion-dollar Aruwai Resort, located on the Essequibo River, is expected to be opened next month.

Bartica miner and prominent businessman Chunilall Babulall said that preparations were already underway to have the astounding resort have its grand opening in time for the Christmas season.

President David Granger is expected to be the guest speaker at the momentous inaugural ceremony.

The luxury resort is located approximately 20 minutes from Bartica, Region Seven (Cuyuni-Mazaruni) on an island about a quarter of a square mile long. It boasts a 38-room hotel with a beautiful beach nearby.

Other facilities that will be available on the getaway island include a pool, spa and a gymnasium.

According to reports, tourists vacationing at the resort will enjoy exhilarating boat rides on the Essequibo, Cuyuni and Mazaruni Rivers and visit wonderful landmarks like Fort Kyk-over-Al and the local mining camps.

Also serving as a bonus for visitors is the breathtaking White Water Waterfalls located right across the river from the resort.
