Guyanese receives prestigious Global Leadership Award

awardGeorgetown: Dr Astell Collins, one of Guyana’s inspirational leaders was included among an elite group of world leaders to receive the prestigious Global Leadership Award.

This outstanding citizen has been honoured with a Global Leadership Award at Capitol Hill in Washington for his work in leadership development globally.

At the award ceremony, Dr Collins became emotional as he reflected on his grandmothers who are both deceased; (Doreen Jeffers and Marjorie Collins) whom he wished were alive to witness the moment. As a tribute to his heroes, Dr Collins dedicated the award to their memory.

Undeniably the Guyanese-born leader continues to represent Guyana with excellence and has become a national role model for his compatriots, particularly youths.

The former medical technologist possessed the required courage to redefine his life and became an internationally sought after leader. He is committed to emancipating others from only existing in the limitations of labels to live fully while they are alive by discovering their true value and potential.

When asked why he pushes himself so hard, he responded: “The transitioning of my mentor Dr Myles Munroe, has evoked a sense of urgency, for it reminded me that our days are numbered and hence, I demand excellence from myself and an incomparable level of commitment to serving humanity”.

Dr Collins believes that effective leadership is what is necessary in transforming Guyana to the paradise it has the potential of becoming. Furthermore, he declares that as a developing nation we do not need more politicians in leadership but rather more leadership in politicians. He further remarked that politicians only think of the next election but true leaders think about the next generation.

In Guyana, Dr Collins delivered his motivational speeches to students and teachers across the country.
Following the viral sex tape of St Roses High School students, Dr Collins wasted no time in orchestrating seminars aimed at educating students about self-worth and self-value. He also hosted guidance sessions at the school to help students and teachers recover from the tragic incident.

Dr Collins pledged to continue on his mission to help people, particularly young adults, realise their worth, their talents, abilities, gifts and strength through his leadership seminars.
