Killer jailed for life

Bridgetown.

Renaldo Alleyne, was jailed for life  yesterday in the Number 2 Supreme Court by Justice Elneth Kentish  for unlawfully killing  six young women who died  on September 2010, when he firebombed the Campus Trendz Store located at Tudor Street in Bridgetown.

Alleyne 21, of Prescod Bottom Hindsbury Road, St Michael was originally charged with the murder of Tiffany Harding, Kellishaw Olivierre, Kelly Ann Welch, Shanna Griffith, Nikkita Belgrave and Peal Cornelius, he  denied the charge and pleaded guilty to manslaughter.

Justice Elneth Kentish told Alleyne the girl's death were untimely,  ghastly, painful and horrible. She added only life sentences would be commensurate with the gravity and seriousness of the offences, especially since she felt he was a danger to the society.

"Regrettably, neither your co-operation with the police, your clean record, your guilty pleas, nor your expressions of remorse, are sufficient to detract from, or neutralize the gravity of the offences and the senseless and horrific  manner  in which these young women met their deaths", Kentish told Alleyne.

"You took the lives of six very young women, in one fell swoop, in an act of callousness and utter lack of thought that defied understanding", she added.
