Jamaican student jailed

Bridgetown.

Another Jamaican has been jailed after caught trying to smuggle drugs into Barbados.

Giovanni Antroy McIntosh of 26 James Avenue, St Catherine, pleaded guilty to trafficking, importation, possession and intent to supply drugs when he appeared in the District "B" Magistrates' Court recently.

The 23 year old university student told the court he had come to Barbados with the intention of paying his girlfriend a susprise visit but someone held him up with a gun, threatened his family and order him to smuggle marijuana into the island. 

McIntosh was intercepted by police officers at the Grantley International Airport his luggage searched and the cannabis found there.

The Jamaican recieved a two year sentence to HMP Dodds for trafficking and an 18 month one for possession of marijuana.
