Inquiry hears, no management plan to deal with coup

Port-of-Spain: Chairman of the Commision of Inquiry into the July 1990 insurrection, Sir David Simmonds says it appears from the evidence coming out at the inquiry that there was no management plan in place to deal with the afermath of the events of 1990.

Sir david made the observation as he listened to the testimony of president of the Downtown Owners and Merchants Association Gregory Aboud who lamented the lack of protocols to deal with the looting on business places in the capital city, which he said continued for several days.

The plight of businessmen in the aftermath and during the 1990 insurrection came into focus at the inquiry.

Admitting that he was not president at the time of the insurrection, Aboud nevertheless gave an indepth insight into how businesses were looted and destroyed on and after July 27th 1990.

He lamented the lack of protocols to deal with the looting on business places in the capital city, which he said continued for several days.
