INDEPENDENCE DRINK, FOOD AND CULTURAL FESTIVAL

Georgetown: On Sunday May 28th, 2017 the Umana Yana will be transformed into the ‘Guyana Independence Festival Village’ as Guyana marks its 51st Independence Anniversary.

The event which is being held under the patronage of the Minister of Education, Department of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Nicolette Henry is dubbed ‘Celebrate Guyana, the Ultimate Independence Party’ and is a celebration of Guyanese Drinks, Food and Culture.

Celebrate Guyana will see the offering of traditional and contemporary Guyanese drinks from beverage giant Banks DIH Ltd which will be in attendance and a major sponsor of the event. Banks DIH will be offering the finest Guyanese wines, beer, cider, cocktails, soft drinks & spirits, coffee, tea etc. to our tantalizing Guyanese cuisine reflective of the diverse culture and flavors that make up Guyanese food.

The Ministry of Agriculture’s Guyana Marketing Corporation will have on display, and for sale, Sauces, Seasonings, Fruit Punch, Cassava Bread, Salted Fish and Shrimp, Soaps, Pie Filling, Heart of Palm, Casareep, Detergents, Juices, Fruit Concentrates, Jams, Fruit Mixes, Coconut Water, Ground Coffee, Fruit Wines, Honey, Achar, Spices, Plantain and Potato Chips, Tamarind Balls, Sugar, Flour, Eggs, Local Craft, etc

A major feature of this Guyanese food and drink extravaganza shall be an exciting ‘Eat to the Beat’ Concert that will be headlined by Dave Martins of the Tradewinds, along with other very notable musical and cultural performers.

 The entertainment will be family oriented, providing a wide variety of engaging and exciting cultural activities which will present an enabling environment for public education of Guyana’s rich culture and heritage and the promotion of ‘Brand Guyana’.
