Mr. Hughes also expressed his gratitude to President Donald Ramotar who offered the services of the Guyana Defence Force, the Chief-of-Staff Commodore Gary Best, the Minister of Health Dr. Bheri Ramsarran  and especially to Dr. Carpen, nurse Yolanda Renville, Dr. Wilson and Captain Alvin Clarke who flew into Aishalton in the middle of the night to ensure he received early medical care.

At present he is resting comfortably at the Caribbean Heart Institute and is being provided with round-the-clock care.
