Hospital not to blame says CEO

Bridgetown.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital,( OEH ) is not to blame for the the shortage of the drug Paclitaxel at the health institution.

Dr Dexter James, the chief executive officer of the QEH, told Trakker News that the fault lies with the Barbados Drug Service and the suppliers of the drug.

"The Barbados Drug Service must take the lead to ensure that this situation does not occur again", James said.

"The QEH is willing to work with the Drug Service in an to make sure that we are not faced with such an situation again", He added.

Paclitaxel, which kills cancer cell,has not been available at the QEH for the past two weeks,and patients who require it, were being sent home without being told when it will be available.
