Essequibo: The Guyana Oil Company Limited has made significant strides to honour its corporate social responsibility to the children of the Essequibo Coast with the installation of Road Safety signs in front of eleven (11) schools in that area.

This initiative came as a response to growing concerns by the traffic unit on the Essequibo Coast. Recently, a small ceremony took place at the Anna Regina School to hand over the signs to Divisional Commander Stephen Mansell.

Present at the ceremony on behalf of Guyoil was Eric Whaul, Sales and Marketing Manager who stated that this initiative is one of many social initiatives GUYOIL has responded to with enthusiasm. He further mentioned that it is part of the company’s 40th Anniversary celebrations.

The schools along the Essequibo Coast that will benefit from road safety signs are Anna Regina Primary, Sparta Primary, Cotton Field Secondary, Abram Zuil Secondary, J/Cecelia Secondary, Suddie Primary, Pomona Secondary, Charity Secondary, Charity Primary and Fisher Primary.

Guyana Oil Company officials noted that the company takes its corporate social responsibilities very seriously and supports many events aimed at promoting various sectors of the economy including tourism, education and sport.
