GuyExpo 2013 Wraps Up…Possibilities for the Creation of Business Linkages Endless

DSC_1355Georgetown: GuyExpo 2013 would have realized its primary aim, which is the creation of business linkages and opportunities and the expansion of enterprises, which is a successful outcome of this year’s exposition.

Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister, Irfaan Ali made this disclosure at the cusp of the close of GuyExpo 2013, even as the trade fair drew to a close and exhibitors prepared to leave the exhibition site.

“GuyExpo 2013 would have seen its primary benefit, the creation of business linkages and opportunities and the expansion of businesses being a successful outcome of GuyExpo 2013. This year’s activity would have benefitted from the professionalism in the sense that the team has put the experience that they have gained over the years into good practice,” Minister Ali explained.

Testimony to the success of the event, Ali noted that both exhibitors and patrons expressed their satisfaction t the planning and execution of the Trade Fair.

He said, “We had more than 90 % of the exhibitors and the patrons satisfied in the service that we provided. We also had an incident free GuyExpo ; I think that a number of local manufacturers would have reported positively . Even with the brand launching and promotion businesses would have also benefitted from GuyExpo 2013.”

Alluding to the overwhelming response and attendance at the Expo, the Tourism Minister revealed too that numbers have grown from the opening night from 10,000 to in excess of 40,000 on the closing night.

He said, “The population response to GuyExpo in fascinating and I think the broad spectrum of activities and facilities provided at GuyExpo prepared us for the multi facetted users of GuyExpo .”

As to the additional attraction to the annual activity, Ali said that the launch of the ‘I Believe’ campaign heralded the beginning of a new era, which will transcend the activity and have an impact even after the activity would have passed.

“In terms of the National scheme of things, the I Believe campaign is one such initiative that would keep GuyExpo alive,” the Tourism Minister assured.

GuyExpo 2013 boasted participation from more than 13 overseas companies, who all, according to Ali expressed their satisfaction at the exposure generated from the trade fair.

He said, “Overseas exhibitors were all satisfied and happy with the exposure they got to our market, and the benefits they got from the Guyanese system in terms of acceptance of their product. The regional exhibitors who were here built a lot of local business linkages so you will see a lot of synergy in terms of what they have to offer and what the local private sector has to offer.”
