Guyanese flock the seawall along the coast to celebrate easter.

Georgetown: It is a day every year anxiously awaited not only for kids but grown ups too. Easter celebrations Guyanese style, a tradition that has grown each year with families and friends across the country. The build up for today is quite amazing, with the many shows by local and international artistes, special events planned at various community centers and clubs and the usual big preparation at the seawall. From early this morning many youngsters and their parents started flying their kites. Tourists visit Guyana to celebrate easter each year as a result of the many planned activities. The biggest crowd is often found at Hope Beach on the East Coast. People leave from all over to visit this particular spot. Officially the President would visit Hope Beach every year and participate in the fun. But while all the preparation and fun filled activities take center stage, many are being reminded by the elders and pastors not to forget the real meaning and significance of easter.
