Guyana Veterinary Association Executives pay Courtesy Call on Agri. Minister

vetGeorgetown: The Executive members of the Guyana Veterinary Association today paid a courtesy call on Agriculture Minister Dr. Leslie Ramsammyin the boardroom of his Regent and Shiv Chanderpaul Drive office.

The team who was headed by its President, Dr. Nicholas Waldron discussed a number of areas of which the Association and the Ministry through the Guyana Livestock Development Authority (GLDA) can collaborate to further propel the industry.

Presently, there are 45 active veterinary doctors in Guyana and according to the Agriculture Minister such a move to have the Association resuscitated is indeed a timely one.

“I welcome this move to have the Association resuscitated, as it is another avenue to have the livestock industry further developed…” he said.

The Guyana Veterinary Association is one which has been effective in the promotion of animal health, animal welfare and public health in Guyana. It also serves as a body which represents the interest of veterinary practitioners.

“Veterinarians must adhere to high ethical standards and be prepared to apply their specialized knowledge and skills in the interest of others and the Association will at all times work assiduously to ensure this” Dr. Waldron reiterated.

The new Executive Members are;- Dr. Nicholas Waldron, President, Ms. RenitaLashley and Dr. Lennox Applewaithe, Committee Members, Dr. Dale Hartley, Secretary and Dr. Maxine Parris-Aaron, Treasurer.
