Guyana on Show with spectacular line up of events for this weekend

Tourism, Industry and Commerce Minister, Irfaan Ali who extended Diwali greetings to the entire nation, invited all to participate is the events planned for this weekend.

He said, “To commence the weekend we have an event at the National Stadium on Saturday, November 10th to showcase the rich spiritual guiding principles of Diwali. This will be followed by a motorcade along the East Bank where all are invited to enjoy a rich cultural evening dedicated to the significance of Diwali.”

The cultural presentation will begin at 19:00 hours; gates will be opened at 16:00 hours, there will also be special dance performances from Natraj Dance Troupe from the USA.

Ali reminded that these events staged in commemoration of the Festival of Lights are wholesome, alcohol free and suitable for the entire family.

Following this, the Caribbean Race of Champions will be staged at the South Dakota Circuit on Sunday, November 11th.

As to the importance of this activity, the Tourism Minister said, “On top of that, there is the much anticipated Caribbean Race of Champions where Guyana will be on show as we are competing with all the racers from across the Caribbean and North America. Our boys are going to be there and show their dominance in racing in the region and we will all be there to celebrate with them.”

He said too that as a result of these activities more visitors are coming to Guyana to celebrate our rich heritage and culture.

“Its going to be a large event, a spectacular event and a well managed event and I want to congratulate the leadership of the GMRSC for always staging a quality event. Persons can expect great fulfillment and we are encouraging persons to attend,” he stated.

In addition, the Guyana Hindu Dharmic Sabah will also have a Motorcade in Region Three as well as their annual Motorcade along the East Coast in observance of Diwali, this will be staged on Monday, November 12th.

He explained, “There is the one of a kind motorcade along the East Coast ending at LBI ground which is another Dharmic Sabah Programme showcasing the celebration of light over darkness.” 

Ali used the opportunity to encourage the nation to be a part of the activities and to join in as we celebrate our culture together.

“It’s a packed agenda; to all our guests, Happy Diwali , welcome to Guyana and welcome to Paradise Most of all welcome to the Amazon Adventure ,” he declared.

Tickets for the Diwali Nagar on Saturday can be purchased from Ashmins, GiftLand ,  Mattai’s , In Style fashion at the Berbice Car Park and Mandirs along the East Bank .
