Grenadians goes to the polls today

St Georges, Grenada.

Grenadians goes to the polls today to elect a government after a six week campaign.

Long lines were formed outside some of the 239 polling stations open at 6 a.m and will close at 5 p.m. According to Supevisor of Elections Judy Benoit, 62,146 people are registered to vote in the elections.

Prime Minister Tillman Thomas of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is hoping to lead his party to a second consecutive five year term over Opposition Leader Dr Keith Mitchell of the New National Party (NNP).

Three other small parties including the National United Front comprising mainly of former NDC cabinet minister.
