Grandmother tied and strangled

marabella-3-innis    Port of Spain; Boysie Pancho returned home to find his wife Meena Pancho, a 61 year old grandmother was hog-tied and strangled in her kitchen. The couple lived at Tarouba Road Marabella, where Meena sold plants for a living, her husband is a retired shrimp vendor. The police said the murder took place between 10.30am and 11 am after other members of the family left the home.

The rooms of the house were ransacked although investigators are yet to determine if anything was stolen. Pancho said he left his wife cooking while he took his pick-up for repairs, but upon his return he observed the front gate open when it was suppose to be locked. He called out to her and got no response, when he approached the kitchen he saw her on the floor.

Struggling to keep her composure the couple's daughter Arita Mohammed who lived downstairs the two story house, had also left home earlier. She said when she received the call from her father telling her to return home immediately she sensed something was wrong. Mohammed and her father clung each other and wept openly as the woman's body was taken away to the Forensic Science Centre St James. She said she don't know how the attacker got inside because the house is fully secure.

Investigators are working on the theory that the woman's killer posed as a customer and forced himself into her home. Investigations are continuing.
