Government to continue tabling legislation – Dr. Luncheon

Georgetown : Cabinet has reported that Government will continue to focus on its 2012 programme of legislation even as the conduct of Parliament comes under discussion.

Head of the Presidential Secretariat Dr. Roger Luncheon stated that Cabinet has agreed to introduce several pieces of Legislation in the National Assembly.

Among the laws to be addressed by Government would be the introduction of processing fees for licensing firearm applications and for firearm trading licenses.

Other legislation includes the Amendment of the Sexual Offences Act; the repeal and re-enactment of the Deeds and Commercial Registry Authority Act and the enactment of Amendments to the Business Registration Act.

“These intended pieces of legislation once introduced, would join those already on the Order Paper and currently attracting the attention of the House,” he observed. Pieces of legislation currently before the National Assembly are the Telecommunications (Amendment) Bill and the Public Utilities (Amendment) Bill. The latter Bill was tabled by Government and is up for its second reading.
