GDF officer dismissed following conclusion of court martial

1000957Georgetown : Lieutenant Madainey Humphrey has been dismissed from the Guyana Defence Force, following the conclusion of court martial proceedings against him, which concluded on Friday, May 10.

Lieutenant Madainey Humphrey was implicated in an alleged robbery attempt at the Julian Ross Landing in January this year.

The GDF, upon investigating the matter, took the decision to court martial the lieutenant who was found to have disobeyed a lawful command, and to have been in breach of the Force’s Standing Orders, charges to which he plead guilty. His sentence to dismissal was unanimous. He was represented by Attorneys at Law Mr. Bernard DaSilva and Ms. Beverly Bishop.

On April 22, Lieutenant Humphrey appeared before Chief Magistrate Ms. Priya Sewnarine-Beharry to answer to the charge of robbery under arms. The matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrates Court.

The Guyana Defence Force reiterates that, it will not waiver in its complete intolerance for indiscipline and will continue to hold its members accountable for any diversion from its Standing Operation Procedures.
