Founder of Texila American University pays courtesy call on the Minister within the Ministry of Public Health

Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen CummingsGeorgetown: Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Texila American University, Mr. Saju Bhaskar, along with the Operations Manager (Guyana), Mr. Ashok Kumar, paid a courtesy call on the Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, today to discuss a number of issues. This courtesy call comes one week after Texilia American University, held its first graduation ceremony for the first batch of medical students who would have completed their studies at the institution.

 During his discussions with the Minister, Mr. Bhaskar spoke of his desire to have more collaborative work done between Texilia American University, the University of Guyana and the Georgetown Public Hospital Incorporated (GPHC Inc). He also took the opportunity to share with the Honorable Minister, his future plans for developing a world-class medical school and diagnostic centre in Guyana. With regard to establishing and maintaining quality control mechanisms as well as the acquiring credible international accreditation, Mr. Bhaskar indicated that a number of steps have already been taken to ensure that the quality of medical education and training being offered by Texilia American University remains of the highest quality.

Minister within the Ministry of Public Health, Dr. Karen Cummings, expressed satisfaction with the work being done by Texilia American University and encouraged the management of the University to continue to provide programmes that are clinically relevant, which enables students to acquire the best medical knowledge and professional competencies that are essential to practice medicine effectively.

 Dr. Cummings was also very keen to point out to Mr. Bhaskar and his team at Texila American University, to pay very keen attention to the strict requirements of the Guyana Medical Council.
