Former President to be conferred honorary doctorate by UK University

Georgetown : Former President Dr. Bharrat Jagdeo next week will receive a honorary doctorate from  Central Lancashire University in the United Kingdom

Mr. Jagdeo and Royal Preston Hospital neurosurgeon Professor Charles Davis and voluntary worker Gulab Singh MBE are among the highly-acclaimed professionals who will be conferred honorary awards at the University of Central Lancashire (UCLan), according to the Lancashire Evening Post.

The former president will receive the doctorate for his contribution to sustainability and environmental issues.

Jagdeo has been an influential and eloquent promoter for climate justice across the world, and from early in his advocacy pointed out that developing countries can lead the way towards finding sensible solutions to challenges.

His Low Carbon Development Strategy has been adopted by several countries and has been lauded by many leaders as a good model for sustainable development.

This doctorate from Lancashire follows several other major honours bestowed on the former president for his sterling contributions in various fields and will be his fourth from a prestigious institution.
