Five murders in twelve hours

Police Investigations are continuing into five murders that took place over a twelve hour period yesterday. The country’s murder toll has risen to 355 with the recent killings. In the first incident, Kadeem Soyer, 24 of Achong Trace, Tunapuna was sitting on the sidewalk along the Eastern Main Road, Tunapuna, at about 1.20 am when two men approached him, police said the men reportedly pulled out a 9mm revolver and shot him several times, Soyer ran a short distance before falling to his death. The men fled the scene in a white Sentra vehicle. Just thirty minutes later, Anthony Sieunarine, 16, of Malabar Road Arima, was stabbed to death. Sieunarine and a group of friends were walking along pro Queen Street, when a car with two occupants pulled up along side them, Sieunarine, police said ran into De Verteuil Street, one of the men gave chase and stabbed him in the neck. Sieunarine died on the scene. The third killing occurred around 2.15 am. Ebo Adams and Jason Pierre both 23, were walking along Wall Street, Pinto Road, Arima when they were approached by a man. Police said that the man pulled out a gun and shot them both in what they believe was a robbery attempt.

And, an alleged Jamaat Al Muslimeen gang leader Dale Mathis,40, was killed in broad daylight in the Diego Martin branch of the Tru Valu supermarket car park. Police said that Mathis was sitting in his parked white X_trail vehicle in front of the First Citizens ATM when two masked men in a blue Nissan Wingroad pulled up along side him. Eyewitnesses said the men then opened fire killing Mathis on the spot. Upon investigation police discovered that the X-trail bore a false licence plate and that Mathis was believed to be the leader of a gang in the Rich Plain Diego Martin area. Mathis was the father of five and was waiting on one of his wives who was grocery shopping. No motive has been established for the killing.
