Fallen Heroes foundation assist families of slain cops

Georgetown: In honour of those members who died in the line of duty, the Guyana Police Force Fallen Heroes Foundation Inc. assisted nine families on Tuesday with monetary donations.

The event was held at the Police Officers’ Mess, Eve Leary. Persons who received funds included: Abina Marlyn La Rose, Neola Amanda Persaud, Enola Pantlitz, Triola Ruth Alana Elias, Rizpah Amanda Cosbert, Carleen Lourain Mytra Mickle, Roxanne Gilkes, Nehena Renhena Bollers and Adesia Johnson. The total amount handed over was $400,000 which was divided between the nine recipients.

Chairman of the Foundation Rev. Dr. Murtland Raphael Massiah said the Commissioner of Police Seelall Persaud decided to be proactive in dealing with the issues of losing ranks of the police force in the line of duty.

“He responded in a good way by setting up the GPF Fallen Heroes Foundation, essentially what he had in mind is that the foundation essentially sets out to do something for the welfare and education  of the children under 18,” he explained.

He said over 25 children have benefitted from the initiative.  The Guyana Police Force (GPF) launched the Fallen Heroes Foundation Inc. in 2015 to honour those members who have died in the line of duty, in order to provide various forms of assistance to their families. Their families are set to receive adequate assistance in terms of hampers, school fees for children and other kinds of assistance from the GPF Heroes Foundation.
