EU Delegation in Guyana launches Traineeship Programme

Ambassador Robert Kopecký - Head of Delegation of the EU to Guyana,Georgetown: The Delegation of the EU to Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad and Tobago and for the Dutch Overseas Countries and Territories announced the launch of its non-remunerated Traineeship Programme, directed at giving young professionals and students from the region an opportunity to garner skills as trainees at the Delegation.

Trainee positions are being offered to young university graduates with no, or only limited (one year maximum), relevant professional experience, as well as to students in the final year of university where the traineeship is a complement to their academic training.

The preferred traineeship period is 5 months, full-time, with the starting date at the end of June. Successful applicants will be based at the EU Delegation in Georgetown, Guyana.

The traineeships are being offered in the Bilateral, Trade, Political, Press and Information, as well as in Finance, Contracts & Audits Sections.

Head of Delegation of the EU to Guyana, Ambassador Robert Kopecký, in brief remarks highlighted that it is an exciting venture that the Delegation has embarked on and he hopes that there will be a multitude of applicants, not only from Guyana but hopefully from the other territories where the Delegation is accredited. He further said that it is an opportunity for the successful applicants to get an early insight into the functioning of a large international organisation that is the European Union.

To be considered for the programme, applicants should primarily be nationals from where the Delegation is accredited (Guyana, Suriname, Trinidad & Tobago and the Dutch OCT's) as well as EU-member states. However, on a case-by-case basis, applicants of other nationalities will also be considered. The deadline for submitting applications for the internship program is April 30, 2015.
