Emotional meeting between rape accused and victims

Bridgetown.

Derick Crawford,48, met the British two women he is accused of raping in the courtyard of Holetown Magistrates' Court yesterday and they almost embraced each other.

Diane Davies,63 and Rachel Turner, 63 were at the court to take the witness to declare that Crawford was not the man who raped them on two separate occasions in October 2010. 

Davies, Turner and British actress Hillary Heath who was also raped while on vacation in Barbados in 2004 are providing the money for attorney at law Andrew Pilgrim to represent Crawford.

The three women are alleging  that the police charged Crawford with the offence to protect Barbados' tourism image,  Commissioner of Police Darwin Dottin yesterday told the media that the team of investigators who were tasked  with investigating the case are firmly of the view that the evidence strongly supports the decision to arrest and charge Crawford.

The case was adjourned until Friday because there was no sitting of the court.
