Edward Boyer elected chairman of PSC

Eddie BoyerGeorgetown: The Private Sector Commission (PSC) announced that a new Executive was elected at its Annual General Meeting held recently at the Marriott Hotel.

Mr. Edward Boyer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hardware Group of Companies, was elected Chairman of the Commission.  Mr. Boyer is immediate Past Vice-Chairman of the Private Sector Commission and a former President of the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry.  He is also Chairman of the Salvation Army in Guyana.

Mr. Desmond Sears was elected Vice-Chairman.  Mr. Sears is Executive Director of Delmur Co. Ltd, of Forestry & Technical Consulting Inc., and of Omai Transportation & Equipment Inc. Mr. Sears has more than thirty-five years of experience in shipping and is also the Honorary Consul General for the Royal Kingdom of Norway.

Mr. Ramesh Dookhoo was unanimously reelected as Secretary of the Commission. Mr. Dookhoo is the current President of the Caribbean Association of Industry and Commerce and past President of the GMSA.  He is also a former Chairman of the Private Sector Commission and former Trustee of the Caribbean Court of Justice Trust Fund.  Mr. Dookhoo is also a former Chairman of the Competition and Consumer Affairs Commission and of the Cheddie Jagan International Airport Corporation.  He has also served as the Chairman of the GWI Board of Directors and is the immediate past Chairman of the Trade and Investment Sub-Committee of the PSC.
Mr. Fitzroy McLeod was returned as Treasurer.  He is the Financial Controller of the National Milling Company of Guyana.
