Don’t text and drive campaign launched

Bridgetown.

A new road safety intiative has been launched to discourage Barbadians from texting while driving.

The No Thumbing Barbados campaign is the brainchild of commercial artist and flim maker Calvin Noel , who decided it was time for Barbadians to stop texting while driving and created a promotional campaign which will feature a series of radio, television and print public service announcements.

"We have developed a simple but impactful integrated marketing programme targeting Barbadian male and female drivers between 16 and 55 years who currently text and drive", says Noel.

"I also took a proactive approach by using imagery and messaging focused on reaching future drivers, young people between the ages of ten and 15 years who are yet behind the wheel but see adults texting and driving and those who would be taking driving lessons", he added.

Noel is waiting for the approval from several Government agencies to erect billboards and street signs with the message.
