Devil’s Bridge Death

ST JOHN’S, Antigua : Authorities from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and Forensics Unit are unable to rule out foul play in the death of an unidentified woman, whose body washed up on the beach alongside tourist attraction site Devil’s Bridge on Saturday afternoon.

Senior Sergeant William Holder of the Strategic Communications (STRATCOM) Department has since appealed to the public for assistance in identifying the body and determining the circumstances surrounding the discovery, made at about 2:49 pm that day.

“There was no identification on or nearby the body. The deceased appeared to be in her 20s and is of African descent. We have not had any missing person report, therefore we are asking residents to come forward with information if a relative, neighbour or friend who resides in Antigua & Barbuda has not been seen or heard from recently,” the senior officer said.

The officer has urged people to call 462-3913(4) or CrimeStoppers at 800-TIPS.

Witnesses said the victim appeared dark in complexion, medium built and approximately five feet four inches tall. The body was nude but a brassiere was hanging around one arm.

Two sightseers and a vendor in the area made the discovery, as they were walking alongside the southern side of the beach. It was they who summoned Willikies police to the scene.
