Deep shock and horror’ – CARICOM reaction to Florida massacre

Georgetown : The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has expressed deep shock and horror over Sunday’s massacre at the Pulse night club in Orlando Florida.

 Forty-nine people were killed and 53 injured during the gunman’s shooting rampage, described by officials as the worst mass shooting in American history.

Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque in a message on behalf of the Community stressed that there was no justification, whether on grounds of race, religion or lifestyle for the slaughter of defenceless people.

He said  CARICOM stands with the Government and People of the United States as they mourn the victims of this heinous attack.

“The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) expresses its deep shock and horror at the massacre perpetrated on innocent citizens at the Pulse night club in Orlando, Florida, on Sundaymorning.

 There is no justification, whether on grounds of race, religion or lifestyle, for the slaughter of defenceless people. Such callous actions and total disregard for human life must be condemned in the strongest possible terms and are a stain on humanity.

 

CARICOM stands with the Government and People of the United States of America as they mourn the victims of this latest heinous attack. The Community extends its deepest sympathy to the families who lost their loved ones and wish a speedy and full recovery to those wounded in the attack.”
