London – Darren Bravo has been ruled out of the remainder of the West Indies’ tour of the United Kingdom.
West Indies team physiotherapist C.J. Clark said the left-handed batsman suffered a right hip flexor strain during the weather-affected, first One-day International against England last Saturday at the Ageas Bowl in Southampton.
“Darren will undergo further medical investigation in T&T and a subsequent rehabilitation programme will be commenced following the review,” said Clark.
Bravo travelled to the UK capital with the team from Southampton on Sunday and flew home to Trinidad & Tobago on Monday.
No replacement has been named for Bravo.
Two other players, Chris Gayle and Andre Russell, underwent medical investigations on Monday.
Gayle missed the first ODI with a suspected stress reaction in the tibia bone of his left leg, and Russell jarred his left shoulder when he fell while batting during the same match.
Neither player practised on Monday with the team at the Kia Oval, match venue for the second ODI on Tuesday.
Gayle has made himself available to play on Tuesday, and the team is awaiting the results of the scan on Russell.
West Indies trail 0-1 in the three-match series, following a 114-run defeat under the Duckworth-Lewis Method in the first ODI.
