COP reopens attempted murder case of British couple

Tobago: Police Commissioner Dwayne Gibbs says the police have re-opened the case involving the attempted murder of British citizens Peter and Mirium Green in August 2009, following the discharge of the case at the preliminary inquiry stage last week for lack of evidence.

The commissioner has appointed a team to submit findings within 30 days and he has promised the police will do whatever it takes to successfully complete the investigation.

Deputy commissioner Mervyn Richardson has been placed in chage of the investigation and will lead a team of experienced homicide investigators to conduct a review of the case and subsequent court procceedings. He's been given 30 days to submit a report. the commissioner says no stone will be left unturned.

Peter and Mirium Green were chopped about their their bodies on August 1st 2009 at their Bacolet, Tobago home. argyle resident clint alexis was charged with attempted but was set free of the charge when the matter was discharged in court.

The greens were not willing to travel to this country for the preliminary inquiry which led to the collapse of the case.
